Canadian based educational staffing firm It’s Academic is announcing the implementation of behavioral-based interviews to its innovative screening process. The increased focus on behavior based interviews as an assessment tool is twofold – 1) to provide the educational organizations with the best possible candidate for the job and 2) to assist job seekers in finding a fulfilling career at an organization they will love.
Behavior based interviews focus on experiences, behaviors and skills related to a specific job. Candidates are asked questions that reveal how they behaved in certain circumstances. The belief is that past behaviors are likely to predict future interaction and performance. Social science research shows behavior based interviews are more effective than traditional interviews at determining a candidate’s fit for a particular job and organization.
In order to drive the process improvement and implement the new interview focus, It’s Academic has hired long-time educator Andrew Melnyk as its Eligibility and Assessment Consultant. Melnyk brings 25+ years of experience in K-12 educational staffing including the design and assessment of behavior based interviews.

The Form is a report mechanism that organizes and quantifies a candidate’s experience and work history into an easy to digest document. The result is consistent evaluation for clients making it possible to hire the absolute best person for the job. The Candidate Suitability and Assessment Form also combines quantitative metrics and anecdotal data to evaluate potential hires.
