JOB DETAILS: Teachers are typically assigned about 100 students to work with. The programs use Chinese published versions of western texts. Preparation is usually centred on helping students understand the basic concepts in business in English. They are also studying similar topics in Chinese, so much of the instruction is designed to help them experience some aspects of western business practices and the specialized language used to describe and discuss them. There is one in school year break (Spring Festival break for about a month). The terms are 20 weeks in duration. The one year contract secures their visa for a year (which means they can use the summer holiday to travel, unless the school offers them a teaching assignment). The basic teaching load is about 25 class periods per week (each being 40 to 45 minutes, and usually scheduled in pairs, that is up to 90 minutes with a 10 minute break between periods).
