Benefits: New teachers will start on a full time basis with a salary of approximately 46K CAD; higher salaries are based on academic qualifications and years of experience according to the British Columbia Teachers’ Collective Agreement. Teachers who work in British Colombia public schools will join the British Columbia Teachers’ Federation. Qualifications: Successful applicants must have a Bachelor’s of Education from any province in Canada, and be fluent in French (written and spoken) and also have a good command of English. Both new and experienced teachers are encouraged to apply. Candidates must have recent practicum reports, teaching reports or references from a previous principal from Canada within the last two years. Once hired, successful candidates will have to apply for BC teacher certification which is primarily an administrative procedure, then they will have to relocate to BC by the beginning of August 2017.

Additional Details: Fluency in oral and written French is imperative, as well as a good command of English. The successful candidate must also have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the elementary or secondary school French language curriculum; confidence in the delivery of French language instruction; knowledge and understanding of a variety of assessment and evaluation techniques; demonstration of excellent interpersonal skills; strong ability to work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team; strong organizational and classroom management skills. Almost all teachers in BC begin their teaching career as temporary teachers before being assigned to their own permanent class. These positions begin as temporary classroom assignments but are paid on a full-time basis from the start. Teachers will typically be moved into their own permanent class within a year after they have acclimated to the curriculum subject to the School District’s requirements.
