Job Overview: Our client, a grade 1-12 International School providing a unique educational experience, seeks Grade 1, 2 and 3 elementary teachers for the 2017/2018 academic year. Candidates should have a strong, progressive background in teaching this age group with at least two years experience. This individual should be prepared to utilize elements of American Progressive Education including an inquiry based approach with a focus on learning outcomes during all phases of student engagement, instruction and classroom organization. This individual must be willing to work with other staff members as well as parents.

Qualifications: Teachers must have state or provincial elementary certification and at least three years experience; Experience teaching a range of subject matters; Knowledge and experience with inquiry based instruction with a focus on learning outcomes; Experience working effectively with elementary school aged students; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Strong interest in living and working in China; Native English Proficiency; Preference is given to teachers with knowledge and experience utilizing the inquiry based learning method and the Common Core.
Additional Details: Provide a nurturing, caring and supportive environment for students; Utilize inquiry as the primary instructional model; Provide instruction in all core subjects; Participate actively in curriculum writing using Understanding by Design as the model. Standards for Literacy are from the US Common Core Standards; Work with the ESL students within the regular class while maintaining an English only classroom and collaborating with the ESL teacher; Promote cross cultural understanding among the students; Maintain a strong, positive and informative relationship with parents; Manage a Homeroom group of students as your advisees; Prepare for and participate in all parent conferences; Other duties as assigned.
