Job Overview: Our client is a British Columbia off-shore program located in Tai’an and Changchun, China. Students are Chinese nationals and have studied English as a second language from their primary years. Students are offered ELL classes in addition to the BC Graduation Program. Core courses include academic English, ESL, Social Studies, Math, Sciences, and in some locations Planning, PE, and Information Technology. Students are focused on their academic goals and have a high level of respect for teachers. The goal of most students is to attend a BC or other Canadian University after graduation.

Benefits: Positions are for a one-year contract. A salary between $48,000 to $54,000 is being offered. Accommodation is subsidized and located near campus. Return airfare is paid each contract year. Teachers will enjoy working with four to six other Canadian teachers and a Canadian principal that works on-site. All programs are located within a Chinese high school, allowing teachers to also learn and experience the Chinese educational system.

Qualifications: All teachers must have a Bachelor of Education from Canada and at least two years’ full time teaching experience to obtain their visa. Teachers should have a degree in math or science. Experience teaching ESL learners and/or international teaching experience are considered assets. All teachers must be eligible, apply for and obtain their British Columbia certification before arriving in China.

Additional Details: A Math/Science teaching position is available in both Tai’an and Changchun to teach grades 10 through 12.
